The number of countries in Europe reporting an increase in COVID-19 infection rates has risen almost threefold, from 6 to 21, indicating that the coronavirus pandemic remains active in many nations. This was stated by Hans Kluge, the Director of the World Health Organization's European Regional Office.

Kluge pointed out that several countries, including North Macedonia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, and Israel, are witnessing a rise in COVID-19 cases. He noted, “In several countries, high rates of new COVID-19 cases continue to be observed. Last month, the number of European countries experiencing a significant increase in overall case rates jumped from 6 to 21. In many countries, the COVID-19 pandemic remains in an active phase.”
