VIDEO: Approximately 64,000 green sea turtles gather near the Great Barrier Reef

Thousands of turtles have been spotted near the Great Barrier Reef in Queensland, located in northeastern Australia. Drone footage captured by researchers has recorded approximately 64,000 green sea turtles. The filming was part of a five-year restoration project for Rain Island.
During their first years of life, green sea turtles spend time in the open ocean, feeding on jellyfish and other marine organisms. Over time, they change their habitats, moving closer to the shore and becoming herbivorous, feeding on marine plants. Their serrated beak helps them to pull up these plants.
