Today it is political pressure, retribution, or lawlessness, but it absolutely has a political nature: Abovyan
We are in a normal, positive, and constructive discussion with our opposition partners; discussions are currently ongoing. This was stated by Arman Abovyan, a member of the Prosperous Armenia faction, while speaking to journalists near the Shengavit Court of General Jurisdiction in Yerevan, where the application for the detention of the leader of the Prosperous Armenia Party, Gagik Tsarukyan, is being discussed.
He did not provide further details, promising to inform at the end of the discussions. Regarding the application for Tsarukyan's detention, Abovyan remarked: “Currently, I do not have any information about what is happening inside the court; a legal process is underway. We have an expectation from the court to uphold the interests of the citizens of the Republic of Armenia.”
According to him, if a decision is made to detain, it will fall within the logic of political persecution and total pressure. “Today we heard an admission that, yes, in Armenia today it is—call it political pressure, retribution, or lawlessness—but it absolutely has a political nature.”
