Hearing on Robert Kocharyan's Bail Terms Appeal to Continue Tomorrow

The Court of Appeals, presided over by Judge Arsen Nikoghosyan, today continued hearing the appeal against the decision of the General Jurisdiction Court of Yerevan to reject the requests of former President Robert Kocharyan's lawyers to change the terms of his detention.

Attorney Aram Vardevanyan presented the connections between R. Kocharyan and the former prime ministers Vazgen Manukyan, Khosrov Harutyunyan, Karen Karapetyan, and the former prime minister of Artsakh Anushavan Danielyan, who provided personal guarantees for him.

Present at the hearing, Robert Kocharyan stated that his previous position as the highest official in the country and his biography impose an additional obligation on him not to do anything that could potentially tarnish his name. The former president noted that he has never shied away from accountability, as it is part of his nature. Moreover, he understands well that he is under public scrutiny.

“This is a brand that has formed around my biography and my name. It is an extremely valuable brand for me, and any step that could raise doubts about this perception is simply excluded,” said R. Kocharyan.
