BHK to Appeal to the Constitutional Court Challenging the Legitimacy of Assembly Regulations During State of Emergency

The BHK faction will present two initiatives today. As my colleague Vahe Enfiajyan mentioned, we will propose the establishment of an inquiry commission to study the efforts against the coronavirus and will appeal to the Constitutional Court challenging the legitimacy of the decision regarding the organization of assemblies during the state of emergency,” said BHK MP Iveta Tonoyan in a conversation with reporters.

According to her, the work is already underway. “We urge our partners from ‘Luminary Armenia’ to join us in this process so that we have enough signatures. I believe these are crucial issues. I understand that some may say that this is not the right time, but I assure you that we no longer have the right or time to procrastinate. We must clarify whether the actions taken by the government and the commandant concerning the organization of the fight against the coronavirus were lawful and timely, as delays in their decisions have often affected both the pace of virus spread and the number of deaths. Some representatives of the authorities acknowledged their share of the blame, but in such cases, simply offering apologies is not enough,” she added.
