Kadyrov Planned to Eliminate Gabunia

The director of the Georgian television channel "Mtavari," Nika Gvaramia, has commented on the special operation that took place in Tbilisi on June 12, during which anti-terrorism services arrested a Russian citizen of Ingush descent, Vasam Beg Bokov. According to "Aliq Media," Gvaramia stated that the arrested individual was intended to eliminate journalist Giorgi Gabunia on the orders of Chechnya's leader, Ramzan Kadyrov. The motive dates back to last year when Gabunia made derogatory remarks about Russian President Putin during his own program on "Rustavi 2" television.

“Georgia arrested this man for a different reason, but we received information from Ukraine that he was in Georgia specifically on Kadyrov's orders to remove Gabunia,” Gvaramia declared. He also added, “We are being pursued not only by our government but also by our main enemy, Russia. This is both a great honor and, at the same time, a significant danger.”

Recalling the scandalous broadcast from last year, Gvaramia stated, “Despite the fact that these statements were extraordinary, they completely fit into our coverage policy in terms of both content and presentation.”

It is also noted that just hours after the announcement, the information was disseminated by the State Security Service of Georgia (SUS). The SUS confirmed that the arrested individual was in the country on a murder assignment. However, the announcement did not provide details on exactly who the Russian citizen had planned to kill and on whose orders. The SUS urges citizens to refrain from publicizing unverified or even verified information for the sake of the investigation's interests.
