We will present our decision tomorrow after the prosecutor's speech, in a closed and secret vote: Makunts
The decision of the My Step parliamentary group regarding the Prosecutor General's motions to strip the immunity of Gagik Tsarukyan, to detain him, and to initiate criminal proceedings will be announced tomorrow. This was stated today, June 15, during a conversation with journalists by the head of the My Step faction, Lilit Makunts.
"We have discussed the agenda of the four-day session, and of course, we have also addressed the prosecutor's motion, based on which the faction has made a decision. We will present our decision tomorrow after the prosecutor's speech, in a closed and secret vote," she said.
When asked whether the decision was made unanimously or if there were disagreements, Lilit Makunts replied, "Allow me not to disclose details about that matter." Addressing the comments from the Prosperous Armenia Party regarding the political nature of this process, Makunts stated, "I have previously noted that the motion presented by the Prosecutor's Office is based solely on legal grounds, and this issue should be viewed within that framework. We should not give political connotations to the legal processes and must refrain from politicizing legal proceedings."
In response to a journalist's question about whether the authorities were unaware of these cases when they signed the memorandum, and yet such cases were initiated following Tsarukyan's announcement about changes in the government, Makunts said, "That meeting was about the agreement to hold snap parliamentary elections, where Gagik Tsarukyan expressed his readiness."
