No Political Decision Can Be Made to Strip Any MP, Including Tsarukyan, of Immunity: Gor Abrahamyan
Gor Abrahamyan, an advisor to the Attorney General of Armenia, made a post on his Facebook page stating: “Once again we emphasize that no political decision can be made to present a motion to strip any MP, including Gegik Tsarukyan, of immunity. Such decisions are made exclusively within the framework of criminal proceedings, based on how the Attorney General assesses the sufficiency or insufficiency of the evidence collected during the investigation in terms of justifying such a motion.
Therefore, trying to politicize ongoing criminal procedures is pointless by jumping ahead of events. If there are procedural grounds for presenting such a motion to the National Assembly, the Prosecutor's Office will inform the public about it.”
Earlier today, MP Naira Zohrabyan from the Prosperous Armenia faction indicated that a political decision had been made for the Attorney General to enter the National Assembly on Tuesday with a motion to strip Gegik Tsarukyan of his parliamentary immunity and involve him as a defendant.
