Supporters of Gagik Tsarukyan Demand Nikol Pashinyan's Resignation in Armenia, Reports 'RIA Novosti'
Today, the Russian news agency 'RIA Novosti' covered the ongoing events in Armenia. Supporters of the opposition parliamentary faction leader and prominent businessman Gagik Tsarukyan, whose house was searched on Sunday, rallied in front of the National Security Service building, chanting 'Nikol, go away' and demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, the agency reported.
Previously, BHK MP Naira Zohrabyan reported on the search conducted by members of the National Security Service near Tsarukyan's home. According to her, the reason for the investigative actions could be financial issues that arose during the 2017 parliamentary elections with one of the candidates in Martuni.
Earlier, Tsarukyan spoke to the protesters gathered near his house. He labeled the accusations against him as fabricated and characterized the actions as political pressure and blackmail. The MP stated that they want to intimidate him, but he will not give in. Tsarukyan added that he is going to undergo questioning.
It is noteworthy that on June 5, during a meeting of the party’s political council, Tsarukyan suggested that the government be completely changed. According to him, the main issue is that there are no experienced people in the government.
