No One Should Rejoice Over Today’s Events When Their Colleagues Are Dragged on the Asphalt: Iveta Tonoyan

The authorities cannot suppress the voice of the opposition with the tools at their disposal under any circumstances. This was stated today by Prosperous Armenia Party MP Iveta Tonoyan during a conversation with journalists.

“The government has lost so much adequacy that they are even trying to detain lawmakers. I am not saying that there has been disproportionate use of force against MPs today, and for several hours, videos are circulating online. At least out of solidarity, no representative of the ruling faction has responded to any of this. I want to remind you that the boomerang effect is a real phenomenon. No one should rejoice over today’s events when their colleagues are dragged on the asphalt. I expect anything from the authorities, even the circumvention of the law. We will be guided by political tools,” said the MP.

To the question of whether it is possible that, according to rumors circulating in the media, Mr. Tsarukyan may remain at the National Security Service today, Tonoyan replied, “Since I do not try to find any grain of logic in the actions of the authorities, I repeat that I do not exclude anything. Yes, according to the press, there is a scenario to keep Mr. Tsarukyan here and come to the parliament to strip him of immunity.”

Iveta Tonoyan thanked the MPs from the Bright Armenia party: “I thank my colleagues from Bright Armenia who are by our side. I expect that in this process our opposition colleagues will be with us.”
