Arman Sargsyan's Team Members Depart
The newspaper 'Jamanak' reports that Deputy Chief of Police Hayk Mehryan has submitted his resignation. It is known that Mehryan was a childhood friend of former Chief of Police Arman Sargsyan, who had reinstated him in the system. Prior to that, Mehryan held the position of head of the Nor Nork administrative district.
Now, following Sargsyan's departure, he is also leaving. We learned that he submitted his resignation in the evening of June 10 and was awaiting approval. Moreover, it has been repeatedly reported that he brought Mehryan into the system despite his earlier dismissal from the police and lack of rights to work within the police according to the 'Law on the Police of the Republic of Armenia.' Furthermore, during the state of emergency, he was responsible for overseeing the situation in the police and was a member of the commandant's office.
'Jamanak' newspaper previously noted that after Arman Sargsyan became Chief of Police, many former police officers found jobs in various systems, especially in the city hall, as Sargsyan and Yerevan Mayor Hayk Marutyan are friends. Now, following Arman Sargsyan's departure, his deputy Vahe Ghazaryan has been appointed Chief of Police, who is expected to make staff changes within the police system soon.
Mehryan is far from the first person to resign following the appointment of a new Chief of Police. It should be noted that he personally submitted his resignation after his friend's departure.
