Tragic Deaths of Newborns at St. Gregory the Illuminator Medical Center

A tragic incident occurred today at the maternity ward of the St. Gregory the Illuminator Medical Center. According to ‘Factinfo’, two newborns have died.

The sister of the mother shared the details of the case with ‘Factinfo’: “My sister was supposed to have twins. A month ago, the amniotic fluid of one baby had gone, and she called the doctor, who said it was normal and told her to come in the morning. The next day, she went to be under their supervision, they filled her with artificial amniotic fluid and performed a Doppler scan, stating that everything was normal. She was going for check-ups weekly, and the heartbeats of the babies were fine; everything was okay.”

“Yesterday she felt pain, and her mother-in-law took her to the hospital. The doctor checked her and said everything was normal, and she could go home. The mother-in-law insisted that if there was any need, she should stay and be monitored, but the doctor insisted that she could take the necessary medications at home; there was no difference. Anyway, my sister returned home, felt pain again, and this time the doctor advised her to take No-Shpa. She didn’t feel well the whole night, and in the morning they took her to the hospital by taxi.”

“My sister had a cesarean section 1.5 years ago. Another cesarean section was required because after a cesarean, if three years do not pass, she cannot give birth naturally. But they said she must do it naturally. They took her to the delivery room and then put her under anesthesia. When we asked why she needed anesthesia if she was supposed to give birth naturally, the doctor justified that the first baby was stillborn, and the last check-up for the second baby had to be done under anesthesia so she wouldn’t feel pain. They say both babies were stillborn. But if during all this time they were being monitored and the fetuses were fine, how could it end up like this? Did they really have all that pus in the womb in just one hour?” said the mother’s sister.

They blame the doctors for the incident and claim that they will definitely hold them accountable and will not let this situation go unnoticed since they assert that the mother should have been under medical supervision, yet she was sent home. The 28-year-old woman has three children, and according to her sister, she has had all her pregnancies smoothly and easily, so much so that she didn’t even realize she was pregnant: “The pregnancy hadn’t even reached seven months. The doctor says the fetuses weighed 500 grams; how could I have kept them? But how did it happen if their condition was good until then?” the mother’s sister lamented.
