Total Torture is Being Imposed on Manvel Grigoryan, Says Levon Baghdasaryan
Levon Baghdasaryan, the lawyer of former MP and General Manvel Grigoryan, has issued a statement saying, "Initially, when Manvel Grigoryan was in the hospital, and according to medical records, his conditions were worsening in a mathematical progression. The Minister of Health did not miss the opportunity to announce that the patient's life was not in danger and that he was under daily supervision.
However, when the threat to the patient's life became real due to a significant increase in his health issues, the necessary treatment was halted. It became imperative to transfer the patient abroad for further treatment, yet the Minister of Health, through his staff, informed that he had no involvement in this case as it was before the court, as if the Hippocratic oath were not given by him, but rather the court.
Later, he provided written information stating that the Ministry of Justice should handle the matter. Upon receiving a response from that ministry indicating that they could not address such issues since the individual was not under arrest, and rightly so, as the health-related responsibilities lay with him, he went into hiding and has not responded to any correspondence.
Dear Mr. Minister, regarding the patient, you have exposed yourself to inaction. Please respond to the public: you were asked to provide a professional opinion based on the patient's latest medical records regarding the transfer of the patient abroad for further examinations and treatment, as according to the attending physician, it is no longer possible to conduct treatment in Armenia. You have given neither a positive nor a negative response.
On June 9, 2020, Grigoryan's condition sharply deteriorated, with loss of consciousness, a drastic drop in heart rate, and body temperature falling to thirty-two degrees. He was transferred to the intensive care unit. I declare that apart from the daily deteriorating health conditions being conserved, the patient is not receiving any other treatment related to regaining his health, as according to the attending physician, treatment is no longer feasible in Armenia. Manvel Grigoryan is being subjected to total torture in front of the public and the highest authorities of the country."
