Armenia Improves Its Position by 15 Places in the Peacefulness Index
Armenia has significantly improved its standing in the Peacefulness Index, now occupying the 99th position. It has emerged in the category of countries marked in yellow, where the level of peacefulness is assessed as average. Armenia's global peacefulness index stands at 2.135 points, meaning the country has improved its position by 15 places.
The highest level of peacefulness in the world is held by Iceland. Following Iceland are New Zealand, Portugal, Austria, and Denmark. The IEP list consists of 163 countries. According to the report, while the level of peacefulness has increased in 81 countries, it has decreased in 80 countries. Azerbaijan has improved its position by 12 places, landing in the 120th position, attributed to the relative stabilization of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. It is noted that the last major open conflict was the four-day war in April 2016.
