Who is the new Chief of Police? Biography
As already reported, Colonel Vahe Ghazaryan was appointed as the Chief of Police a short while ago. Prior to this, he held the position of commander of the Police Forces of the Republic of Armenia and deputy chief of police.
Below is his biography:
Vahe Ghazaryan was born on June 15, 1974, in the city of Ijevan. He graduated from the Faculty of Economics of Yerevan State University in 1995. In 2009, he graduated from the Faculty of Law of Yerevan State University.
From July 23, 1995, to November 5, 1996, he served in the Armed Forces. From December 27, 2003, to January 16, 2004, he was an inspector (senior inspector on accounts) at the Tavush Regional Police Department's headquarters. From January 16, 2004, to December 23, 2005, he was an inspector (senior inspector on accounts) at the Tavush Regional Police Department.
From December 23, 2005, to February 3, 2007, he served as the operative officer (senior operative officer) against drug business and drug addiction in the Criminal Investigation Group of the Tavush Regional Police Department. From February 3, 2007, to February 28, 2008, he was a senior operative officer in the Criminal Investigation Department of the Tavush Regional Police against drug-related crimes.
From February 28, 2008, to December 22, 2009, he continued in the same role. From December 22, 2009, to January 12, 2012, he was the head of the Criminal Investigation Department in Ijevan.
From January 12, 2012, to March 11, 2016, he served as the deputy head of the Ijevan division of the Tavush Regional Police, overseeing operational matters. From March 11, 2016, to May 19, 2018, he was the head of the Dilijan division of the Tavush Regional Police.
From May 19, 2018, to May 22, 2019, he was the head of the Tavush Regional Police. On May 22, 2019, by the decree of the President of the Republic of Armenia, he was appointed commander of the Police Forces of the Republic of Armenia and deputy chief of police.
He has been awarded various departmental medals and badges by the Police of the Republic of Armenia. He is married and has one daughter and two sons.
