Entrance to Artsakh Allowed Only with Negative COVID-19 Test Result, Says President
Entrance to Artsakh will be prohibited without a negative result from a coronavirus diagnostic test. This was stated by the President of Artsakh, Araik Harutyunyan, in his address on June 8.
He noted that individuals must cross the Artsakh border with a negative COVID-19 test result, meaning that travel to Artsakh can only occur after testing. Rapid testing will be conducted at checkpoints.
Harutyunyan mentioned that nearly 500 to 600 people from Armenia enter and exit Artsakh daily. According to him, based on statistical data from Armenia and the probability theory, Artsakh allows entry to citizens who may be carriers of the virus and could be potential sources of infection.
“This kind of practice has allowed us to avoid instances of infection in the Defense Army. Citizens traveling to Artsakh will receive informational leaflets outlining safety requirements, which will be mandatory for everyone,” he said. “Additionally, it is necessary to gradually transition to mandatory mask-wearing.”
Safety norms will also be adopted during mourning and wedding ceremonies, and those who violate the requirements will face strict accountability. Such measures are due to the fact that funerals, memorial services, and weddings have become significant sources of infection,” emphasized Araik Harutyunyan.
