Armenia Reaches Agreement with Azerbaijan on 134 Radio Frequencies at the Border
Armenia has reached an agreement with Azerbaijan regarding approximately 134 radio frequencies in the border area last year, resulting in the Armenian side being able to use them freely.
According to a report by Armenpress, this was stated by Minister of High-Tech Industry Hakob Arshakyan during a preliminary discussion of the annual report on the implementation of the Republic of Armenia's 2019 state budget at a joint session of the National Assembly's permanent committees.
Within the framework of cooperation with the International Telecommunication Union, three meetings took place in Geneva with the Azerbaijani side in 2019 regarding border radio frequencies. The minister noted that it is possible for radio frequencies to interfere with each other in any border area between two countries.
“Negotiations between Armenia and Azerbaijan have been difficult until now, in order to reach an agreement on which bands they are using and which ones the Armenian side is using. The president of the International Telecommunication Union visited Armenia, and within that framework, we were able to reach an agreement that further meetings would take place on the Azerbaijani side. These have yielded results. There are agreements on about 134 frequencies, and now these frequencies are being freely utilized by us,” the minister stated.
