We are operating under the assumption that the peak of the coronavirus pandemic should occur by the end of June, says Prime Minister

At today’s meeting of the commandant's office, a lively discussion took place regarding our future actions. I do not wish to hide that we discussed several scenarios, including the option of entering total lockdown and the possibility of declaring a curfew. This was stated by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan after the meeting of the commandant's office.

“During these discussions, I was not in harmony with any of the decisions. Because before making such decisions, we must be convinced that they will solve our problems. We operate under the assumption that the peak of the coronavirus pandemic should occur by the end of June. However, the question is that there is no data to substantiate and prove this. No one can assert that our peak will be in June, rather than in October, December, or even February 2021. As we can see, the coronavirus infection continues globally with different dynamics and rates, and therefore, there are many uncertainties in this regard,” said Pashinyan.

He added that the main solution he envisions is a change in individual behavior. “Assuming, miraculously, the administrative measures have brought the infection rate to zero, the virus still exists in the world, and if the culture of individual behavior does not change, ultimately, when we open up to the world, potential infected people will come to Armenia and we will have to start all over again,” emphasized the Prime Minister.
