Public Catering Operations in Two Government Buildings Suspended for 24 Hours

In light of the emergency situation due to the coronavirus pandemic, the extensive inspections by the Armenian State Food Safety Inspection Body (SFSIB) continue in various regions of the Republic, including Yerevan. Reports on identified violations are submitted to the Commandant's Office, where the penalties for the economic operators are decided. This information has been provided by the Government.

Today, SFSIB inspectors have suspended the activities of over 100 economic operators in the public catering sector across the country for 24 hours. The operations of two of these establishments have been suspended for 48 hours due to repeated violations.

As of today, public catering organizations operating in government buildings, specifically Government Building No. 1 and Government Building No. 3, have also had their operations suspended for 24 hours. These companies violated established sanitary and hygienic requirements, including mandatory mask-wearing for staff, temperature checks for all customers, maintaining registers for disinfection and temperature checks, ensuring social distancing for tables and individuals, having separate closed bins for masks and gloves at all entrances, and in many cases, the prohibition of shisha use.

Additionally, the operations of another public catering facility have been suspended for 72 hours because the operator continued to operate in violation of the Commandant's order for a 24-hour suspension.

The purpose of these suspensions is not only to penalize rule-breakers but also to provide them with time to rectify the reported violations. SFSIB staff also provide consultations and give guidance.
