Ombudsman Asks All Users Not to Share Photo of Girl Without Mask

Public figures should always keep in mind that even with a legitimate purpose, their actions may violate a person's rights. This was stated by Human Rights Defender Arman Tatoyan on his Facebook page, referring to a photo shared by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan of a girl sitting on public transport without a mask.

"Any issue relating to human rights is under my immediate attention, regardless of whether I respond publicly or not. I urge all social media users not to share the girl's photo, regardless of whether her face is covered or not. Considering the specifics of this case, if you have shared it, please remove the photo and any offensive comments related to it," Tatoyan wrote.

Since the Prime Minister has removed the photo from his page and made a clarifying statement, the Ombudsman sees no further need to address the issue.

Previously, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan called on his Facebook page to refrain from making offensive remarks about individuals. He apologized to all compatriots who may have been subjected to any offensive comments on his page.
