If the family of the girl in the photo wishes, they can file a lawsuit: Marukyan on Pashinyan's publication
If someone’s right to personal life has been violated, they have the right to appeal to the court through civil proceedings. This was stated today by Edmon Marukyan, the head of the ‘Enlightened Armenia’ faction, during a briefing with journalists in the National Assembly, referring to the situation created around Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's publication of a photo taken in the metro.
“I saw that there were criminal comments as well. There is an article in the Criminal Code regarding collecting, storing, and disseminating information about a person. That could also fall under it. But I cannot provide a legal assessment since I do not know who collected, stored it. I know the distributor. If that girl's family wishes, they can file a lawsuit. If this were, for example, in Denmark, I am sure that would be the case. In Armenia, it may not reach that point, but we also have all the legal tools,” he said.
Regarding the abusive comments written, Marukyan noted that this is also a result of the culture that has developed in recent years. “Have you seen what kind of disgusting insults are directed at us? The authorities have done nothing because they insult the opposition. When they are insulted, they will do something,” he added.
