Group of Vehicle License Plate Thieves Discovered; Arrests Made
According to SHAMSHYAN.com, a group of several individuals suspected of stealing over ten vehicle license plates in the capital has been uncovered by the Criminal Police Department of the Republic of Armenia, the Criminal Investigation Department of the Yerevan Police, and the New Nork Division of the Police.
The media outlet reports that a criminal case has been initiated at the New Nork Division of the Police under Article 182, Part 1 of the RA Criminal Code regarding these thefts. As a result, on June 4, police detained Yerevan residents 22-year-old Erik S. and 22-year-old Harutyun G. on suspicion of committing theft on Svachyan Street in the capital. In addition, two other residents of Yerevan, 37-year-old Artavazd P. and 24-year-old Raphael G., were taken into custody from the "Meimandar" agricultural market located in the administrative area of the village of Gay in the Armavir region.
It has been established that Erik S. and Raphael G., having reached a preliminary agreement, stole the license plates 01 SL 111 from a Toyota vehicle owned by 42-year-old Eduard S. in the New Nork administrative district on May 18. Following the investigator's decision, Raphael G. and Erik S. have been arrested, while Artavazd P. and Harutyun G. were released on their signature.
Further investigation conducted by the investigator revealed that on May 18, Erik S. and Raphael G. also stole the license plates 99 ML 909 from a Mercedes vehicle owned by 34-year-old Ararat Gyurjinyan. On the same day, they additionally stole the license plates E 481 XB 197 from a Nissan vehicle belonging to 35-year-old David Aleksanyan, and the license plates 22 MM 122 from a Hyundai vehicle owned by 66-year-old Khachatur Margaryan. Police and investigators have suspicions that this group may have committed numerous similar thefts.
