Criminal Case Against Brothers for Killing One Police Officer and Injuring Another Sent to Court
The criminal case against brothers S. and H. Galstyan, regarding violence against two police officers performing their official duties on October 16, 2019, following a theft at the 'Chi-Chi' beauty salon, has been completed and sent to court. This information was provided by the Prosecutor's Office.
In the investigation conducted by the Serious Crimes Investigation Division of the RA Investigative Committee, S. Galstyan has been charged with committing thefts by illegally entering a storage area or building in collusion with a group of individuals, and for exerting non-dangerous violence against a representative of authority during the performance of his official duties. As a measure of restraint, he has been detained.
On April 3, 2020, a part of the criminal case against him was sent to court with an indictment. The investigation revealed that the other brother, H. Galstyan, in addition to the aforementioned criminal acts, committed a series of thefts, some of which involved minor R. M., who had also committed theft together with A. H.
Based on sufficient evidence obtained during the investigation, H. Galstyan has been charged with committing multiple thefts by illegally entering a storage area or building (including with a group of individuals), destruction or damage to property with intent, murder of a person related to his official activities, and for exerting non-dangerous violence or threatening it in connection with the theft of a weapon from a representative of authority. He has also been placed in custody as a measure of restraint.
Minor R. M. has been charged with committing similar thefts on multiple occasions, and he has been placed under the supervision of his parent as a measure of restraint. A. H. has been charged with committing a similar theft, complicity in such criminal acts, attempted theft, as well as for stealing significant amounts of property using computer technology. For him, the measure of restraint has been set as a signature not to leave.
The prosecutor overseeing the legality of the pre-trial investigation has confirmed the indictment, and today, June 5, 2020, the criminal case has been sent to the Court of General Jurisdiction of Yerevan for substantive examination.
