42 Billion Dram Returned in VAT Debt, Says Prime Minister

The Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, participated remotely in the annual report discussion on the execution of the 2019 state budget at the National Assembly, where he stated that 2019 was a historic year for Armenia in terms of budget implementation.

“The Armenian government managed to generate 104 billion drams more in tax revenues than anticipated, of which 62 billion drams became state budget revenues, and 42 billion drams worth of VAT debt, formed before January 1, 2017, was returned,” said Pashinyan, adding that a 7.6 percent economic growth was recorded during the reporting period.

As the budget execution is discussed in the context of the resignation of Davit Ananyan from the post of head of the State Revenue Committee, the Prime Minister took the opportunity to thank him for the work done during this period. “I believe there will be new changes in the SRC and the system in general, and we hope that the substantive changes that have begun during Davit Ananyan’s tenure will deepen and become more comprehensive,” the Prime Minister noted.
