30 Individuals Involved as Defendants in Gavar Incident Case
The Investigative Committee of Armenia is continuing extensive investigative and procedural actions regarding the criminal case involving the murders of two individuals and the infliction of gunshot wounds on four others in Gavar, as well as mass riots involving violence and property destruction by a group of individuals.
According to the Information and Public Relations Department of the Investigative Committee, as of now, 30 individuals have been involved as defendants in the criminal case. Among them, 25 are charged under the second and fourth parts of Article 225 of the RA Criminal Code for participating in mass riots at the Gavar Medical Center. One person is charged under the second part of Article 225 and the first part of Articles 34-104 for participating in mass riots at the same center and for attempted murder.
Additionally, three individuals are charged under the first, sixth, and seventh clauses of the second part of Article 34-104 and the first part of Article 235 for attempted murder in a dangerous manner for more than one person in a group on Freedom Street in Gavar, illegal possession, carrying, and acquisition of firearms. Another defendant is charged under the first, sixth clauses of the second part of Article 104 and the first part of Article 235 for attempted murder in a dangerous manner for more than one person and illegal possession, carrying, and acquisition of firearms.
Of the 30 defendants mentioned above, 19 have been detained, and the requests to select detention as a preventive measure for 3 individuals have been approved, with a search announced for them. Requests for detention for 8 defendants have been rejected. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
