115 Employees at Gloria Garment Factory Test Positive for Coronavirus
As of today, a total of 220 cases of coronavirus infection have been confirmed in the Lori region, with 64 citizens already having recovered. This information was provided by the Governor of Lori, Andrey Ghukasian, in an interview with 'Armenian Times,' noting that fortunately, no new fatalities have been recorded (one person has died in the region due to the coronavirus).
The Governor also reported an increase in the number of infected employees at the Gloria garment factory: 'We have 54 new cases, bringing the total number of infected employees at Gloria to 115.'
Earlier today, the regional governor held a meeting with the heads of municipal communities. Presenting the overall situation related to the spread of the pandemic in the region, Ghukasian urged strict adherence to the measures prescribed by the caretaker, emphasizing the need to closely monitor the organization of mourning and funeral services. The governor instructed the community leaders to organize visits by community staff to prevent human gatherings.
Just the day before, the governor made an unannounced visit to Vanadzor. In our conversation, he assured us that such surprise visits to various communities in the region would continue.
Regarding the restrictions on the operation of the Gloria garment factory for 14 days, Andrey Ghukasian stated, 'Since everyone at the factory is already a contact, they will need to self-isolate for 14 days regardless; therefore, it will not be possible to organize operations at the Gloria factory for the next two weeks.'
