Pashinyan Must Resign, Says Arthur Vanetsyan

We have decided that we need to have our party's office in all regions of Armenia to communicate with as many citizens as possible. This was stated by the president of the "Homeland" party, Arthur Vanetsyan, during a conversation following the opening ceremony of the party’s office in Vanadzor, as reported by hraparak.am.

“What led me to engage in politics? I never thought I would lead a party. I don't want to sound too grand, but our homeland, our state is in an extremely critical situation. We need to rejuvenate the political field with new ideas. The problem with this government is that they do not accept criticism. As soon as someone speaks out, they immediately start saying this person is acting on someone’s orders. I was not dismissed; I resigned, and we need to be attentive to the wording,” Vanetsyan noted during his speech.

He pointed out that the authorities are emphasizing the 43 billion AMD that has been returned to the budget during his term, asserting that nothing has been returned to the state budget since his resignation. “Yes, I have had shortcomings, but there were no shortcomings that I would be ashamed of during my service,” added the president of the "Homeland" party.

According to him, the Prime Minister needs to resign: “Pashinyan must resign because what is happening in the country is a disaster that will lead to increasingly severe consequences day by day.” Vanetsyan acknowledged that he, like everyone else, has made mistakes and omissions, but insisted that “I have not had shortcomings that I would be ashamed of during my service.”

Vanetsyan also addressed the bonuses he received during his tenure as Director of the NSS. “I received bonuses as much as I did before being appointed as NSS director, meaning there has always been a schedule for bonuses, and we received bonuses three times a year. Funds from my bonuses were allocated to various charitable foundations, which have not been disclosed; I do not find the need to speak about it now,” Vanetsyan stated.

For the situation with the fight against coronavirus, Vanetsyan blamed Prime Minister Pashinyan and Minister of Health Arsen Torosyan. “From the very beginning, the Prime Minister and the Minister should have acted and fought against the pandemic, but you remember those infamous expressions, ‘Whose dog is the coronavirus?’ and ‘We will pull it out with tweezers.’ What is happening in Armenia today is a disaster, nothing else,” he added.
