Former National Assembly President Armen Khachatryan Has Died

Former National Assembly President Armen Khachatryan has passed away.

He served as the President of the National Assembly from 1999 to 2003. Born in Yerevan, he graduated from the Faculty of Philology at the Armenian State Pedagogical Institute in 1978. From 1987 to 1990, he was the director of Yerevan's School No. 191, and from 1991 to 1999, he served as the prorector of the Hrachya Acharyan University.

From 2003 to 2010, he was the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Armenia to Ukraine. On April 26, 2010, by presidential decree, he was relieved of his duties as Armenia's Ambassador to Ukraine. On the same day, he was appointed as Armenia's Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador to the Republic of Belarus and designated as the Permanent Representative of Armenia in the statutory and other bodies of the CIS.

He was relieved from his ambassadorship in 2017.
