Reported Violations Occur Mainly in Beauty Salons, Pharmacies, and Dental Centers, Says State Health Agency

The specialists of the Health and Labor Inspection Body of Armenia conducted inspections today in the Shengavit and Malatia-Sebastia administrative districts of Yerevan. These activities are being complemented by ongoing monitoring in the regions and other administrative districts of Yerevan, along with the suspension of operators found violating regulations.

According to the Armenian government, there is a noticeable decrease in violations of safety standards by business entities alongside the intensified monitoring efforts. It has been observed that larger retail centers are now conducting more systematic measures to ensure compliance with sanitary and hygienic standards. However, significant violations continue to be recorded in many instances of ongoing monitoring.

These violations are primarily found in beauty salons, pharmacies, and dental centers. In dental offices, the most serious deficiencies relate to disinfection, sterilization, pre-sterilization processes, and the handling of medical waste. Due to the particular risks associated with these violations, dental services are also under the scrutiny of the Health and Labor Inspection Body.

During inspections, inspectors mainly record breaches of disinfection norms. Violations include the absence or non-compliance of disinfectant materials, issues related to temperature checks and record-keeping, and improper disinfection of communication surfaces. Cases where staff do not wear masks or gloves, or do not wear them correctly, are among the most frequently observed. Some business operators have been found lacking closed foot-operated bins for used masks and gloves, as well as separate changing areas for outerwear.

Operators who do not comply with the rules set by the Prime Minister will face a 24-hour suspension decision, granting them time to rectify the recorded violations, while consultancy work is also conducted with operators.

The Health and Labor Inspection Body informs that surprise inspections will continue throughout the country and urges businesses to strictly adhere to the rules established by the Prime Minister. In cases of repeated violations or more serious, combined violations, stricter administrative penalties will be applied.
