Desperate Situation in the Educational System: 6 Universities Left Without Leadership
The newspaper 'Joghourt' reports that the situation in Armenia's educational system remains dire. Currently, 6 higher educational institutions are left 'without owners.' All of them lack rectors, and some even do not have a board of trustees.
In this regard, the most alarming situation is at Yerevan State University, which has been unable to resolve this issue for a long time and continues to be managed by an acting rector, lacking a scientific council as well.
The acting rector of Yerevan State University has long been Gegham Gevorgyan, and the election for a new rector, which was supposed to take place on March 23, did not occur due to the state of emergency in the country.
The Armenian State Institute of Physical Culture and Sport (acting rector David Khitaryan) and Shiraz M. Nalbandyan State University (acting rector Yer vand Serobyan) also continue to operate under acting rectors. The same situation exists at the National University of Architecture and Construction of Armenia, where Eghiazaryan Vardanyan has been the acting rector for a year.
The other two universities without a rector are the Polytechnic University and the University of Economics. The noise surrounding the acting rector of the latter, Diana Galoyan, does not subside.
