Armenian Sappers Clear 17,471 Sq. Meters of Land in Syria in May
The 4th group of sappers from Armenia's humanitarian mission has cleared 17,471 square meters of land in Syria during the month of May. During this period, handmade explosives using gas cylinders were discovered, along with 18 PMN-2 type anti-personnel mines, according to the Humanitarian Demining and Expertise Center.
Since the very first day of the mission, a total of 170,209 square meters have been cleared, of which 142,000 square meters have been officially transferred to the Syrian authorities.
In May, the group’s doctors provided medical assistance to 549 local residents under pandemic-related restrictions. Thus, since February 2019, Armenia's humanitarian team has offered medical care to a total of 12,584 patients.
At the same time, on June 1, specialists from the humanitarian mission transferred gifts collected during the “A Handful of Smiles” campaign to the Armenian Nursing Home and the Armenian Community Orphanage in Aleppo.
