Woman with Diabetes and on Hemodialysis Overcomes Coronavirus
According to a Facebook post by the "Saint Grigor Lusavorich" Medical Center, a woman with diabetes and receiving hemodialysis has overcome the novel coronavirus.
47-year-old K. Makaryan has been discharged from the hospital after spending approximately 44 bed days in the intensive care unit due to confirmed coronavirus and bilateral pneumonia.
The 47-year-old woman has several health issues, including diabetes, ischemic disease, and kidney failure, and is undergoing scheduled hemodialysis. She was transferred to the medical center in moderate condition, but quickly progressed to severe respiratory failure and altered consciousness, leading to her being placed on a ventilator.
After treatment, on the 24th day, K. Makaryan regained consciousness, was disconnected from the ventilator, and began to breathe and eat independently. A subsequent test for the novel coronavirus also returned negative.
K. Makaryan is currently at another medical center receiving appropriate therapy for her other health issues.
