Three Individuals Arrested for the Kidnapping of a Kajaran Resident

In the Main Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of Armenia, three individuals have been arrested in connection with a criminal case regarding the kidnapping of a resident of Kajaran and other related incidents.

Earlier, it was reported that four residents of Kajaran, having reached a preliminary agreement, forcibly entered a parking lot on Lernagortsner Street in Kajaran on April 29, 2020, around 1:30 PM. They used violence by twisting the hands of Sh.M. and grabbing his legs, against his will, they forced him into a vehicle driven by Kh.M., kidnapped him, and transported him to the area of “Azhdarak” company, where one of the individuals present shot Sh.M. in the legs with a firearm and beat him.

Subsequently, they transferred him to a private house owned by A.P. located in the Agarak settlement, where he was again beaten.

During the pre-trial investigation, a search conducted at A.P.'s residence revealed a significant quantity of marijuana.

Based on sufficient evidence, charges have been filed against five individuals; four of them under the Armenian Criminal Code Article 131, Part 2, Point 1 (kidnapping), and one under Article 268, Part 3 (illegal circulation of narcotic drugs or psychotropic substances without intent to sell).

Requests for the imposition of pre-trial detention as a measure of restraint have been submitted to the court, three of which, pertaining to the kidnapping, have been granted. The investigation is ongoing.
