Confrontation Between Police and Protesters Gains Momentum in Los Angeles
In Los Angeles, California, police have used batons and rubber bullets to disperse protesters expressing their outrage over the death of African American George Floyd. This was reported by CNN, as noted by TASS.
Participants in the demonstration have thrown various objects at law enforcement officials. One police vehicle has been set on fire. CNN previously reported that between 400 and 500 people have been arrested during the unrest in Los Angeles.
Rioting continues in Beverly Hills as well. One user shared a video showing the looting of stores along Rodeo Drive.
It is worth noting that mass protests and clashes with the police have erupted in the U.S. city of Minneapolis following the death of the Black man. His death resulted from a rough arrest, with one officer kneeling on the neck of the detained individual, causing him to suffocate. Police employed tear gas to disperse the protesters. Demonstrators had previously stormed the precinct where the now-ousted officers served.
