New Recruits Arrive to Replace Personnel at Gyumri's 102nd Military Base

The first group of soldiers has arrived at the 102nd Russian military base located in Armenia for a planned rotation, following the completion of their mandatory military service.

According to the press service of the Russian Military Base (RMB), on May 31, around 100 soldiers whose service terms have ended have returned home, and approximately 150 new soldiers from Russia have arrived to replace them.

The departing soldiers have been sent home via military transport aircraft, specifically Il-76 planes. As per the decision of the Commander of the RMB, Colonel General Alexander Dvornikov, personnel transfers are conducted using military aircraft while maintaining social distancing, with the planes operating at 50% capacity.

The medical staff at the base has conducted health check-ups for all soldiers and monitored their temperatures. Upon arrival at the base, each group is provided with personal protective equipment (gloves, masks, shoe covers), and personnel are transported exclusively by military buses that have been specially treated with disinfectant solutions.

The new recruits will be placed in a two-week quarantine in specially prepared areas at the military compound in Gyumri's Siverski military town.

During the quarantine, adaptations programs will be conducted for the soldiers, including daily monitoring of their physical condition, temperature checks, and health assessments. Officers from the base's political-military work division will introduce the recruits to the history and traditions of the unit.

To serve in the RMB in Armenia, soldiers are recruited from units and training centers located in the Southern and other military districts. The incoming recruits will be assigned to positions such as communications personnel, scouts, dog handlers, sapper specialists, snipers, UAV and air defense system operators.

By July 1, it is planned to replace around 1,500 servicemen and sergeants who were drafted.

During the planned replacement, the number of personnel at the military base will remain unchanged.
