Protests and Clashes in the U.S. Following the Death of an African American
Massive protests have erupted in over 10 cities across the United States following the death of African American George Floyd, who died as a result of a brutal arrest by police, reports The Associated Press.
The 46-year-old Minneapolis resident died on May 25 after three police officers pinned him to the pavement while one of them pressed a knee into his neck, depriving the man of consciousness.
In Atlanta, Georgia, protests escalated into clashes with police, and demonstrators threw bottles at law enforcement officers. In Denver and Columbus, Ohio, protesters blocked traffic on major streets. Demonstrations also took place in Houston and Dallas, Texas, Phoenix, Arizona, Albuquerque, New Mexico, Los Angeles, California, Brooklyn, New York, and other cities.
