Police Has Closed the Road to the Dendropark and Prevents Access to the Garden

"The police have closed the road and are not allowing access to the garden," Vitali Leonovich, the director of the Stepanavan Dendropark, told Aravot.am. He is the son of Edmond Leonovich, a Polish architect and forester, who founded the Dendropark.

It is worth noting that yesterday was a dusty day at the Dendropark, with hundreds of citizens present without masks and not maintaining social distance. The park director informed that he had not received any written notification or decision regarding the closure of the park. According to his statements, they recorded three thousand visitors yesterday alone.

“Can you imagine if we have to ensure that everyone wears masks before entering? That is the police's responsibility; they should fulfill their duties. Police officers were present in the park yesterday. Today, they closed the road themselves. From our side, the Dendropark is not closed; it is the police who have blocked the road, and we don't know when it will be reopened. Yesterday, the police chief came and saw the situation; they said, 'We will close it.' Thousands of people were coming in; there are special agencies, let them do their work,” he stated.

Mher Gevorgyan, the head of the enlarged community of Gyulagarak, also mentioned in a conversation with the website that he had never seen so many cars in their community area. The community leader expressed that he believes citizens have not adhered to safety regulations: “There were so many cars that, for example, when I wanted to turn towards Vanadzor, I waited half an hour just to turn; so many cars kept coming.”
