Patients Are Brought to Polyclinic in Case of Complaints: Ministry of Health Presents Monitoring Procedure for Asymptomatic Individuals

The Ministry of Health of the Republic of Armenia has presented a video demonstrating how the monitoring of patients infected with COVID-19, who exhibit mild or no symptoms, is conducted through local polyclinics. According to Knarik Ghonyan, head of the outpatient medical assistance policy division, the World Health Organization recommends managing asymptomatic and mild cases at home.

She informed that the process has been organized since May 21. A decision will be made based on an on-site assessment of the patient's health status, taking into account hospitalization indications. These criteria are fully outlined in Minister Arsen Torosyan's order. Indications for hospitalization include age over 60, chronic cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, and more. The final decision is made by the doctor in consultation with a professional team.

Artak Jumayan, director of Surb Grigor Lusavorich Medical Center polyclinic, stated that the monitoring of patients with the coronavirus is carried out via phone calls and is supervised by a physician. “In case of complaints, patients are brought to the polyclinic by our ambulance team. They enter the polyclinic through a separate entrance directly into isolation, where they undergo relevant medical examinations and laboratory investigations. A decision will then be made either to continue treatment at home or to arrange for hospitalization at a medical center,” he noted.

After being discharged from the hospital, a 14-day post-hospitalization medical monitoring period is established, after which the individual is considered fit for work.

It should be noted that, according to Minister Arsen Torosyan's new order, the procedure for organizing medical assistance and services for patients with coronavirus in an outpatient setting has been approved.
