We Will Have Our Dream Armenia: The Prime Minister's Message
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has sent a congratulatory message on the occasion of the Republic Day. This was reported by the Prime Minister's Office.
In the message, it is stated:
“Dear people,
Proud citizens of the Republic of Armenia,
Proud citizens of the Republic of Artsakh,
Proud Armenian community of the diaspora,
I congratulate all of us on the occasion of Republic Day!
On May 15, 1918, after the capture of Alexandrapol, on May 21, the Turkish vanguard reached the village of Sardarapat, and it seemed they would inevitably enter Echmiadzin and Yerevan, condemning the remaining part of the Armenian nation to destruction. The situation was critical. However, it was necessary to stand up and resist the deadly assault with extreme effort. And it was Aram Manukyan who became the embodiment of the spirit, will, and strength of the Armenian people; always just and resolute, during those desperate days, Aram said, 'To work and act, and we will be the winners.'
Despair soon turned into enthusiasm. In the heroic battles of Sardarapat, Bash-Aparan, and Qarakilisa, the Armenian people forever secured their place on the world map; it is thanks to the victories of May that the Republic of Armenia was established. The heroes of Sardarapat, Bash-Aparan, and Qarakilisa became the founders of Armenia's independence. Eternal glory to Aram Manukyan, Tovmas Nazarbekyan, Movses Silikian, Dro, Nzhdeh, Daniel and Paul Bek Pirumyan, the commander of the Yezidi cavalry unit Jhangir agha, and to the entire Armenian army and volunteer forces, as well as to the clergymen who fought with weapons in hand.
On this day in 1918, approximately 1,500 men and women were working under the initiative of Aram Manukyan in the area of Yereblour, strengthening the positions; Yereblour was the last defensive line of Yerevan. The victorious battle of Sardarapat spared Yerevan from being captured, and years later, Yereblour became a kind of pilgrimage site to commemorate the heroes who sacrificed their lives for the freedom of Artsakh.
Today, we are committed to the victorious traditions and messages of Sardarapat and Artsakh, believing that we will have our dream Armenia – a just society free from violence, striving for progress and change, with a strong economy and an even stronger and more modern army.
Dear compatriots,
Aram Manukyan said, '...you should know that I am helpless without you. The hero is the people themselves, and if the people are willing... to work and save the Armenians from impending destruction, then my work and that of many like me will not be in vain.'
So let’s move forward together towards work and action, towards our dream Armenia. I am convinced that the victorious citizen of the Republic of Armenia will never again allow the loss of statehood or citizenship, loss of sovereignty and rights, loss of faith and optimism.
The Republic of Armenia must exist on the planet forever, and the flag of Armenia must wave forever, symbolizing our spirit and pride, our freedom and sovereignty.
And so, long live Freedom,
Long live the Republic of Armenia,
Long live the Republic of Artsakh,
Long live the heroes of Sardarapat, Bash-Aparan, and Qarakilisa,
Long live the founding fathers of the First Republic,
And long live us and our children, who live and will live in a free and happy Armenia.”
