Video: Meteorite or Artificial Object? What Lit Up the Armenian Night on May 28

The Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Armenia and the Byurakan Observatory have no factual data regarding a meteorite falling in the territory of Armenia. In a conversation with Armenpress, the press secretary of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, Edmon Zargaryan, stated that they received an alert regarding a meteorite fall, but there is no trace that should be present following such an event.

“There was a report from the 6th block of Norq indicating that some kind of meteorite or luminous object passed by. The caller saw something like this, but according to the coordinates, it was in the direction of Ashtarak and Byurakan. We inquired with the relevant authorities in the area, and no one has factual information regarding a meteorite fall; there is no trace that should be present after a meteorite falls,” Zargaryan told the media.

After watching the potential meteorite fall video circulating on social media on the night of May 28, the director of the Byurakan Observatory, Areg Mikayelyan, speculates that what appears in the video could be a small meteorite, but it could also be an artificial object.
