Patient's Claims of Not Being Seen by Doctors and Other Healthcare Workers Are Unfounded: Ministry of Health

The spokesperson for the Ministry of Health, Alina Nikoghosyan, has once again addressed a topic that appeared in the media: “As I promised yesterday, I am publishing a clarification regarding the article titled ‘Which Statistics Do We Fall Under for Those Discharged Without Testing or with a Positive Test Result’ on Hetq.am, or in other words, ‘the second side of the story.’

I myself am against disseminating information related to people's medical issues, but the article completely tarnishes the reputation of the hospital where the patient was treated.

Mr. Babajanyan and his wife were admitted to the Scientific Center of Traumatology and Orthopedics on May 14. Babajanyan was admitted with a high temperature of 38.5°C. On the day of admission, both patients were examined by the on-duty doctor as well as a pulmonologist, and on the same day, both underwent a chest X-ray examination, with both diagnosed with bilateral infiltrative pneumonia, receiving appropriate treatment.

The treatment was continuously monitored by the relevant specialists—including a pulmonologist and a cardiologist—and follow-up X-ray investigations were carried out a week later. The treatment proceeded smoothly.

The patient's claims that he was not visited by doctors and other healthcare workers are unfounded; like all patients, they received appropriate treatment and care. The patient demanded that both he and his wife be given individual attention and that the doctors or nurses stay for a long time in the hospital room, which is not correct from an epidemiological standpoint, and would also harm other patients.

Moreover, Aram Babajanyan demanded special conditions, requesting a visit from a professor of pulmonary medicine, casting doubt on the professional qualifications of the hospital staff. They were discharged from the hospital ten days after the start of treatment, on May 24, as they showed no symptoms.

The high level of care provided by the center is evidenced by the fact that to date, a total of 584 COVID-19 positive patients have been treated there, of whom 90 underwent intensive care, having been in severe or critically severe condition,” she wrote.
