Georgia Ready to Assist Armenia in Fight Against Coronavirus, Gamkrelidze

If the National Center for Disease Control and Prevention of Armenia requests assistance from Georgian partners, they will receive it, said Amiran Gamkrelidze, director of the National Center for Disease Control and Public Health of Georgia, during a press briefing. According to Sputnik-Georgia, Gamkrelidze also spoke about a misunderstanding that occurred a few days ago, stating, “As you know, there was a small misunderstanding a week ago. We are brotherly peoples, we always support each other, and we have good relations with Armenia's National Center for Disease Control.”

Regarding the treatment process, he assured, “If Armenia needs that assistance today, I am confident that the government of Georgia and the Ministry of Health will not refuse and will make every effort. First and foremost, the Ministry of Health of Armenia should raise this issue, and I am confident that Georgia will address it. As you know, the Georgians were the first to come to aid during the Spitak earthquake. We are always ready.”

It is worth noting that earlier, Armenian Minister of Health Arsen Torosyan stated that Georgia's anti-epidemic system significantly lags behind that of Armenia. The minister also mentioned that Armenia presents its statistics transparently, questioning the methodology for counting cases in Georgia.
