Court Extends Detention of ‘Shmaysi’ Son for Two More Months
The Court of General Jurisdiction of Syunik Province has extended the detention of Davit Movsisyan, the son of former MP Arakel Movsisyan, who is charged in the murder case of soldier Vahram Avagyan, for an additional two months. This information was provided to NEWS.am by Movsisyan's lawyer, Gor Gevorgyan.
“After three days of suffering, the court made an unlawful decision. No investigative actions were taken to confirm Davit’s act or raise reasonable suspicion. They had one or two low-quality investigative actions that were conducted previously, and they used those as a basis,” the lawyer told the news outlet.
We previously reported that on January 30, 2020, around 1:15 PM, soldier Vahram Mkrtich Avagyan, during his compulsory military service at the N military unit training center, fired shots from an AKM-type rifle at his own chest and was taken to a military hospital with gunshot wounds, where he was pronounced dead at 2:00 PM. A criminal case has been initiated under part 1 of Article 110 of the RA Criminal Code, and the investigation is ongoing.
