American Vaccine Trials Underway in Australia
According to Voice of America, the U.S. biotechnology company Novovax has started trials of its coronavirus vaccine in Australia, involving volunteers. The company hopes to achieve success by the end of the year.
In the first phase of the vaccine trial, 131 volunteers are involved. This trial is one of several experimental vaccines that are in the early stages or close to it. It remains unclear which of the vaccines will be safe, secure, or effective throughout the trial process.
Novovax expects to have the results of the Australian trials by July. If the process is positive, volunteers will receive a larger dosage.
For a significant portion of the population, the new coronavirus is accompanied by mild symptoms, with the patient typically recovering within two to three weeks. However, the virus is highly contagious and can spread even by asymptomatic carriers. For the elderly or those with health issues, it can have more severe consequences.
