We Have No Alternative: Armen Muradyan Urges Colleagues to Join Fight Against COVID-19
Former Minister of Health and rector of Yerevan State Medical University, Armen Muradyan, has called upon healthcare workers via his Facebook page to join the fight against COVID-19 by treating patients infected with the virus.
“Dear colleagues, the most complex, responsible, and courageous specialists, clinical residents who have chosen our precious anesthesiology and reanimation specialties, I ask and urge each of you to join the fight against COVID-19 by working at the healthcare facilities where our professional medical staff need you today. I inform you that the Medical University has submitted your data to the Commandant's Office; at this moment, you are the most critical and powerful driving force of the medical ‘production’ and the hope of us all.
Please, join our Doctors; we need you all... The time has come once again to prove to the world that graduates of the university named after “Heratsi” are the most capable and perfect. During our studies, we were taught to care for our patients; we knew and understood that we were choosing a path that should not dwell in materialism; we have an obligation today to serve our society, we simply have no alternative.
I do not doubt for even 1 minute that we will overcome this pandemic—Covid-19—because I have had the honor of walking alongside those people who are now fighting on the front line. I bow before each of them; they have constantly served and continue to serve the Republic of Armenia selflessly.
In order to bring the moment of victory closer, it is essential for all of us to unite our efforts, I implore you, join us, become a pillar, and help us win this war. I am confident you will read and consider my request and join our healthcare professionals fighting against the coronavirus.
P.S. I would like to add that already 9 specialists—3 from the Mkhitarian University Hospital, 3 from the Heratsi No. 1 University Hospital, and 3 anesthesiologists and resuscitators from the Defender of the Homeland Rehabilitation Center—have joined the fight against COVID-19 in specially designated healthcare facilities. Join them, I urge you again. The right to live healthily and peacefully is a right our people have earned. We will be healthy and will live in a peaceful country that has overcome the epidemic.
Respectfully, to each of you,” wrote Armen Muradyan.
