Video: Body of Ara Poghosyan Found Near Church; Details of Brutal Murder

On May 25, around 1 PM, police in Kotayk discovered the body of Ara Poghosyan, who had no fixed residence, near a church adjacent to the Saralang cemetery in Abovyan. The body showed multiple skull injuries.

A criminal case has been initiated regarding the murder. Investigators from the main office of the criminal police and the Kotayk regional department joined the case to assist in uncovering the incident.

Law enforcement agencies conducted operational inquiries to identify witnesses of the incident. Thanks to the rapid and effective collaboration between various police units, the crime was solved the following day.

Investigators received information that on May 24, Ara Poghosyan had a dispute with a 68-year-old man living in a trailer near the Saralang neighborhood over household issues. The suspect allegedly struck Poghosyan multiple times in the head with a stone, resulting in his death.

On May 26, the suspect was taken to the Kotayk police department and arrested. He has provided a confession. Efforts are underway to clarify the circumstances of the incident, and the pre-trial investigation continues.
