Doctor Does Not Prescribe Medication via Remote Consultation: Ministry Spokesperson Denies Media Report

Medications are prescribed and provided to patients exclusively based on medical indications, and it is ruled out that a doctor could prescribe medication via remote consultation. This was stated by Alina Nikoghosyan, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Health of Armenia, in response to media reports that a COVID-19 patient was not administered necessary medication.

“One might wonder why the media did not attempt to obtain information from the hospital or authorized body. Instead, they spread a one-sided fabrication. If, of course, the heroes are not fictitious, we invite the attention of law enforcement agencies, as this article essentially reports on a crime,” the spokesperson added.

It should be noted that there are no medications for the treatment of COVID-19 infection available in the world, and each patient's treatment is carried out with an individualized approach. After daily examinations, the medical team discusses the treatment tactics for the next day,” she stated.

According to the media report, a 56-year-old man infected with COVID-19 was not administered the necessary medication, which was allegedly kept for young people. The man has since passed away, with the report being made to the media by the patient’s daughter.
