A House Built Next to the Fountain in Nor Nork, the Fountain’s State Is Compromised: Council Member

“There is a fountain in Nor Nork, right next to which a house has been constructed by someone. I am not even mentioning that the fountain has been compromised among several owners, where different activities of questionable nature are being organized. It seems that this fountain was built for their yard in the past,” said Arman Antonyan, a member of the ‘My Step’ faction, during a speech today, May 26, in the Yerevan City Council, addressing the issue of privatized areas in Yerevan parks.

Regarding this issue, Mayor Hayk Marutyan stated, “Currently, there are two businesses that own private areas in the city parks. These people are saying, ‘Tell us what to do; we want to construct something.’ We are saying, ‘No, construction will not happen.’ They are asking, ‘Then what should we do? They are suggesting an exchange, but we don’t have a good exchange offer because there isn’t a decent plot of land left. If there is concern and willingness, let’s organize a fundraising campaign, go speak with that business owner, assess the land, and provide the money. It would turn out that the council saved that area.”
