Necessary to Limit the Number of Participants in Funeral and Memorial Services: Ministry of Health Urges

In the process of preventing and controlling the coronavirus disease, the responsibility of each citizen plays a significant role, alongside the imposed restrictions. This issue becomes more relevant when it concerns the organization, conduction, and participation in public events such as weddings, funerals, birthdays, and so forth. Participation in such mass events and gatherings leads to a higher number of reported cases in the following days. This information was shared by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Armenia.

“In this context, it is important to reiterate that after the declaration of a state of emergency in the Republic of Armenia, the Prime Minister's decree prohibits public events with the participation of 5 or more people, including funeral and memorial services. Understanding the cultural and national characteristics, and the inherent desire to share in the grief of relatives and friends, one must avoid participation, as doing so increases the public health risk, including for family members and relatives,” the Ministry stated.

Such cases have already been reported in a number of communities, including Ddmashen, Vostan, Mrgavet, Norashen, and others. Unfortunately, it has not always ended positively with regard to the coronavirus disease, and there have also been reported deaths as a result.

To break the chain of the spread of the coronavirus in the country and to combat the disease more effectively, the Ministry of Health once again urges citizens to strictly adhere to all instructions from the Prime Minister and to limit the number of participants in public events while observing all safety regulations,” the Ministry's statement concludes.
