Kotayk Governor Visits Jrvaz, Hatzavan, Geghard, and Gokht Communities

Kotayk Governor Romanos Petrosyan, accompanied by advisers, paid a working visit on May 22 to the communities of Zovk, Dzoraghbyur, and Jrvaz in the enlarged Jrvaz community, as well as to Hatzavan, Geghard, and Gokht communities. This information was shared on the governor's Facebook page.

The purpose of the visit was to get acquainted with the construction and preparatory works related to programs initiated in 2019 aimed at the economic and social development of these areas, as well as to participate in discussions regarding the Geghardalich reservoir issue in the Gokht community.

In Zovk, a capital renovation of the kindergarten building is planned as part of the government’s 2020 subvention program, which will include reinforcement and improvement of the adjacent area. The updated and well-lit building will have all necessary conditions to accommodate two groups of children (ages 3-6). The value of the project is approximately 166 million AMD.

In Jrvaz, the governor inspected a site designated for a new kindergarten to be built under the 2020 subvention program, which will accommodate 190 children. This modern facility will meet contemporary standards and will cater not only to children from Jrvaz but also from surrounding areas.

In Dzoraghbyur, a water pipeline was completed as part of the 2019 subvention program. This year's project aims to construct individual connections and water measuring junctions for the community's water pipelines. The project's value is set at 39,769,870 AMD, with 45% (17,896,441.5 AMD) coming from the community's share and the remainder from the state.

The next stop was the Hatzavan community, where a cultural house built during World War II was reinforced under the 2019 subvention program. Capital renovation works have been completed, including a total overhaul of the roof and windows, and the area has been fenced. Moreover, the government approved a 2020 subvention project that includes internal finishing works. Funding from the community and other sources will also enhance the entire area of the cultural house, creating a playground in the yard. Once completed, the Hatzavan community will have a wonderful cultural center equipped with furniture and a library, serving as a platform for various cultural events and educational activities.

In Geghard, the 2020 subvention program plans the complete asphalting and renovation of the central road, along with the construction of retaining walls and drainage canals. The project value is 32,258,340 AMD, with 26% (8,387,168 AMD) covered by the community and 24% (7,742,000 AMD) provided by benefactor Artem Poghosyan, with the remainder funded by the state.

In Gokht, construction works for the reinforcement, reconstruction, and capital renovation of the kindergarten building were initiated under the 2019 subvention program. Construction is actively underway, and the new two-story kindergarten is expected to be operational by autumn at a project value of 93 million AMD. Additionally, extensive asphalting works are planned in this highland community.

The tour concluded with open discussions in Gokht involving the Chairman of the Water Committee, the Executive Director of Kotayk Water Supply Company, the head of the administrative council, and community representatives. The outcomes of these discussions were positively assessed by the governor; there is complete mutual understanding on several issues, and construction of the last 1.9 km section of the Geghardalich gravity system will soon commence.

Simultaneously, the Water Committee will also construct a 1.76 km section of the internal water supply network with a 10% co-financing from the community, which will effectively reduce the current irrigation water losses in the community by around 50%.

Throughout the visit, the governor interacted with residents to understand the social and economic situation due to the coronavirus pandemic and to address existing issues with timely solutions.
